77 (i know thee as my)

I KNOW THEE as my God and stand apart-I do not know thee as my own and come closer. I know thee as my father and bow before thy feet-I do not grasp thy hand as my friend's.

I stand not where thou comest down and ownest thyself as mine, there to clasp thee to my heart and take thee as my comrade.

Thou art the Brother amongst my brothers, but I heed them not, I divide not my earnings with them, thus sharing my all with thee.

In pleasure and in pain I stand not by the side of men, and thus stand by thee. I shrink to give up my life, and thus do not plunge into the great waters of life.

THE WORLD today is wild with the delirium of hatred,
the conflicts are cruel and unceasing in anguish,
crooked are its paths, tangled its bonds of greed.
All creatures are crying for a new birth of thine,
O Thou of boundless life,
save them, rouse thine eternal voice of hope,
Let Love's lotus with its inexhaustible treasure of honey
open its petals in thy light.

in thine immeasurable mercy and goodness

Thou giver of immortal gifts

সংগ্রামমদিরাপানে আপনা-বিস্মৃত
দিকে দিকে হত্যা যারা প্রসারিত করে
মরণলোকের তারা যন্ত্রমাত্র শুধু,
তারা তো দয়ার পাত্র মনুষ্যত্বহারা!
সজ্ঞানে নিষ্ঠুর যারা উন্মত্ত হিংসায়
মানবের মর্মতন্তু ছিন্ন ছিন্ন করে
তারাও মানুষ বলে গণ্য হয়ে আছে!
কোনো নাম নাহি জানি বহন যা করে
ঘৃণা ও আতঙ্কে মেশা প্রবল ধিক্কার--
হায় রে নির্লজ্জ ভাষা! হায় রে মানুষ!
ইতিহাসবিধাতারে ডেকে ডেকে বলি--
প্রচ্ছন্ন পশুর শান্তি আর কত দূরে
নির্বাপিত চিতাগ্নিতে স্তব্ধ ভগ্নস্তূপে!

কোথাও আমার হারিয়ে যাবার নেই মানা
          মনে মনে।
মেলে দিলেম গানের সুরের এই ডানা
          মনে মনে।
তেপান্তরের পাথার পেরোই রূপকথার,
পথ ভুলে যাই দূর পারে সেই চুপকথার,
পারুলবনের চম্পারে মোর হয় জানা
          মনে মনে।
সূর্য যখন অস্তে পড়ে ঢুলি
          মেঘে মেঘে আকাশকুসুম তুলি।
সাত সাগরের ফেনায় ফেনায় মিশে
          যাই ভেসে দূর দিশে,
পরীর দেশের বদ্ধ দুয়ার দিই হানা
          মনে মনে।
